Canon Canonet QL19, when I put the batteries in, the exposure meter was working.
I was surprised and happy.
In an article I posted earlier, I wrote that I haven't tried whether the Canon Canonet QL19's exposure meter and shutter speed-priority EE work.
I wanted to know the answer to that.
So this post, I put a battery in the Canonet QL19 and tried to see if the exposure meter and shutter speed-priority EE would work.
When I checked the batteries, Canon Camera Museum said "One 1.3 V MP mercury cell".

However, when I check the bottom of my camera, it seems different.
It seems that the Canonet QL19 uses different batteries depending on the production time.
HP (MR-50) type batteries are suitable for the camera I own.
However, the mercury cells listed above are difficult to obtain.
Mercury batteries have problems such as environmental pollution.
So I have to find a different way.
As a result of thinking, I adopted the method of putting a spacer made by solidifying aluminum foil on the button battery LR44.
And I closed the lid ...
The shutter speed-priority EE also worked, and the camera shutter was released.
In the first place, the exposure meter and shutter speed-priority EE are recommended functions of Canonet QL19 to make it easier to take photos.
The next time I take a picture with the Canonet QL19, I'll take it with the shutter speed-priority EE. :D
