Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE. The first Zeiss lens for me.
If you like cameras and photography, you've probably heard the brand name "Carl Zeiss" once.
At first I thought, "I wonder if it's a good lens ..."
One day in 2018, I searched for "Carl Zeiss" on a search engine and looked at reviews and photo examples.
Then, there were many voices praising Zeiss.
After all, I bought a used Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T * 1.4/50 ZE.
To be honest, many voices praising Zeiss tickled my heart.
At this time, I still didn't understand Cosina or Contax history. :}
Facial expressions and features convey an individual’s character. A sparkle in the eye, fine wrinkles and shades of color can tell a whole life story. With its versatile standard focal length, the ZEISS Planar T* 1.4/50 knows exactly how to express character: natural, illuminated and rich in contrast.
The focal length of the ZEISS Planar T* 1.4/50 is equal to the perspective of the human eye. Its fast aperture and exceptional compactness are its outstanding features. This lens produces pleasing portrait style quality at the widest aperture and sharpens considerably beyond f/4 for any general purpose application.

Comfortable weight that makes I think that it is packed with good quality optical glass.
The feel of metal is very good and the lens hood are also made of metal.
I was Tokimeki about these.
By the way, "ZF.2" for Nikon is also in the lineup.
This lens has electronic contacts.
I'm grateful that EXIF can be saved.
Cosina's explanation says, "It is no exaggeration to say that it is a masterpiece lens that is the pinnacle of standard lenses."
But the price is reasonable and it's easy to reach longing.
It's just my personal feeling, but I think this 50mm F1.4 lens is the first candidate lens for Canon users or Nikon users who are considering purchasing Zeiss lenses for the first time.
However, this lens does not have an autofocus mechanism.
For those unfamiliar with manual focus, I think this is a factor that hesitates to buy.
I was also very worried when considering purchasing.
But to conclude, there was no problem at all.
Rather, I even felt that "manual focus is fun !!", but I will talk about that in the next post. :)
