Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE, Manual Focus is fun!!
Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE is a manual focus (MF) dedicated lens.
In other words, autofocus (AF) cannot be used.
At first I was feeling the manual focus difficult.
But as I continued to use it, mysteriously, I started to find it fun to shoot with manual focus.
Well, it's not only about manual focus lenses.
The shortest shooting distance of this lens is 45cm.
By the way, the camera used is Canon EOS M5.
In the case of Canon APS-C, the focal length is x1.6, so it is equivalent to 80mm.
Focusing is not difficult, just turn the focus ring.
The feel when turning the focus ring is very smooth like when putting a butter knife in butter.
It really feels good.
If aperture value is F1.4, the difficulty of manual focus goes up.
However, if I use modern camera functions such as focus aid or MF peaking, I can shoot normally.
When after I can shoot with manual focus, I feel that the yield when using an autofocus lens has increased.
I think this is because I was able to better understand the principle of focusing.
It's precious moment when I capture the subject.
