Canon EOS M5 and Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE, I took portrait photos for the first time.
When using the Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE with a camera equipped with a Canon APS-C sensor, the focal length is x1.6, which is equivalent to 80mm.
The focal length equivalent to 80mm is said to be the best focal length for taking portraits.
Furthermore, the Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE is a bright lens with f/1.4.
I've never had much experience in taking proper portraits, but I've always wanted to have the chance to do so.
So, as the weather was getting warmer and my appetite for photography was growing, I took the plunge and joined a portrait photography session.
I used a Canon EOS M5 camera.
And I used the EF-EOSM mount adapter because I couldn't attach a lens to the camera without it.
I thought about when I took the photos was...
"Focus on the front eyelashes."
I know this is a basic rule in portrait photography.
However, autofocusing is not available on the Cosina Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZE.
So I had to concentrate all my attention and turn the focus ring. :}
In hindsight, it was difficult to use a manual focus lens for my almost first portrait shoot. :}
For the first time, I think I understand why some photographers insist on using Eye AF.
But, manual focus is fun!!
Because the model's eyes and eyelashes were so beautiful!!
As for the lens, I had to figure out how to deal with the purple fringing.
When I shoot with backlit and wide aperture, I get a lot of purple fringing.
I'm sorry that I didn't think that far ahead.
When I got a good shot, I was so happy in my heart.
But to be frank, she helped me a lot with her beautiful expressions, posing, and thoughtfulness.
My sincere thanks to her. :D
